I have a competitor in this city who “career coaches” in precisely the opposite way to me. He’s not wrong, and I’m not more right. What it does is mean that those who do not want his way, ping straight over to me.

Some people want to work with someone who is industry-specific. I coach Cross-Sector because that’s often what people want to do – they want to try something new, and they come to me, even (especially!), when they don’t yet know what that is yet!

Some people want to be told what to do – and others are allergic to this approach and come to me because they need to be supported to find their own way.

Some people flourish when given specific coaching models to work through. Most people who come to me have no idea what coaching interventions I’m using because their need is at the centre of the process.

Career coaching approaches vary, so make sure you have the conversation not only about WHAT you will do, but especially about HOW you will do that work together

The process has to work for YOU, or you risk creating unnecessary resistance before you even get to decision-making.
