Career Authenticity

There really IS enough space for all of us to be just what we want to be.

The more clients I work with and professionals I learn with, the more self-evident it becomes that if you wish for success, you need to be authentic.
Even If you say the right words, in the right way, at the right time, to the right person, somewhere deep inside each person in the exchange will recognise it is not resonating quite right…..
This is neither new, nor usually devastating news, but, if you’re in for the long-haul, you might be wise to choose a profession or business you have a passion for.
All jobs and roles have aspects that need to be attended to but which are less than enjoyable. These are much easier to do if it is in service of something you really care about….
Businesses that are ‘just for the money’ are rarely profitable in the long run….
Paradoxically, a client approached me because she needed to discuss that whilst she was making money this was not enough for her…. The business was ticking over just fine, but, she was bored…..
She made the decision to sell up, get out and strike out anew…. She could see she would eventually self-sabotage if she had stayed with it.
I suppose that ‘know thyself’ is intrinsic to this ‘choosing’. I meet people who with similar drivers, who choose totally different career paths. I see people who take very similar roles for entirely different motives. We are all entirely unique and how we arrived in the role of our choosing is a journey unlike any other’s.
What I do see in those who succeed both financially & professionally, is that these people believe in what they do…..
Trust yourself. There really is room for us all.
