My Ideal Client is the client who definitely HAD goals. This client, however, is now frustrated, confused, because the goals they had no longer serve them. — These people may believed they knew exactly where they were going, only to get there and find they didn’t like it at all! Or, these clients are extremely capable (although they would find it hard to own that), and they can turn their hand to just about anything and thus, how could they decide which professional route is theirs?

So, this is why I do not expect our work to begin with ‘goals’ — the people who show up either lost their goals or they never had them at all. — To locate new ‘goals’ takes a little tenderness.
Career Coaching Goals
What we do instead is investigate where they have been, professionally. We get the head torch on to explore what worked and especially what didn’t work in their past career. What environments and behaviours are they NOT repeating, and so what do they ideally want instead.

What skills and capabilities have they picked up along the way that they need to take ownership of so they can take them forward into their futures?
.
What beliefs are getting in their way? What values inform their decisions? What have prior professional identities taught them?
.
All of this is absolute gold for your career future. Then we work out what drives You and dream in your a five to ten-year vision.
THAT is your goal — A goal informed by your past and pinned down in the practicality of your future.
Goals are REALLY important, but they DO need to be the right goals & they DO need to be clear.
