Purposeful Professional Development
What did I learn from yesterday’s professional world?
Firstly, that even if I have been absolutely rubbish in my admin, (& I really had!), I can be absolutely excellent in stepping into my supervisory role spontaneously. Having realised I had failed to book the appointment in my own diary, and the client called…. I still did a flipping good job.
But perhaps most importantly I learned just how important it is to stop everything in order to celebrate our achievements.
I have known this person for over a decade. I have worked intensely with them on and off for a couple of years, and, suddenly, the shift that needed to happen had REALLY happened!
I had 90 minutes of sheer grinning as I witnessed this client’s journey! The details are irrelevant here, but the progress, the revelation, the sheer hard graft and the avalanche of rewards that where received, as a result of a life of choices well made. A life lived in service of themselves andtheir professional purpose, was a really treat for my ears and my soul.
True shifts in our world do take both rigour and time. We have to risk and to practise doing it differently, but once it is embedded, there is no going back. And indeed, why would you want to?
This is purposeful professional development and it is powerful!
