Fresh hints and tips for your CPD
Subscribe“If you don’t ask you don’t get” was a phrase I was raised with. If you don’t risk volunteering your ideas then your environment can never be authentic.
None of your co-workers is a mind reader. You have to say what you need. The business landscape isn’t going to bother to ask you what it is you seek. You need to be courageous enough to volunteer your beliefs and values. The corporate world is way too busy with its bottom line to be proactively seeking your opinion.
“I think it’s about courage.”
I think it’s about courage. If we sit and think something our own, we will continue to believe that we are the only ones that think this. If you believe something is really important, then you need a to risk sharing it. This is the real way to find out if you are on your alone with it or not.
There are two things I have learned from risking my ideas. Firstly; even if there if there is no glimmer of recognition regards what I voice, I will still not die for having voiced it. If I do think it is really important and it is not recognised then this may need to trigger the questions of whether these are my tribe…? nevertheless nobody will die.
The second thing I have learned is that to voice those ideas is to extend the invitation to others. Rarely, if ever, have I voiced something and got nothing back. When the conversation begins, suddenly there is the up-spiralling of information and sharing and inspiration and I find I am not alone.
Share Your Work Environment Ideas
If there is something you need in your work environment or something that would inspire you or your colleagues then be brave and share your ideas. Courage is where all good things begin.
