Career Coach Training
Career coach training IS really important, AND it’s not the only element of expertise a coach needs to bring to career development work.
“We coaches need not only formal training and qualifications but we also need our lived experiences.”
We need to be walking our own talk, to have overcome hurdles, to have reconciled life and experiences that could have broken us.
Why? Because this way, we have compassion for those who show up in our rooms.
And this way, we have the belief that our clients can and WILL reconcile what they bring.
This lived experience creates a dynamic where both coach and client are sovereign.
Then we are relieved of the need to ‘rescue’ our clients, and they have the freedom to work through their baggage in their own way.
Career Coach Training
I once had a 23-year-old who sat in front of me and said the words “I want to be a life coach like you”. … in her 23 years, she had experienced the normal young angsts; however, I wanted to ask, “But what life have you lived!”.
There was also a 24-year-old who had likewise set her intentions to become a coach and my goodness had she had some experiences, and she had (IMHO) integrated them to an extent where they would fuel her work and feed her coachees.

We coaches need not only formal training and qualificatrions but we also need our lived experiences
Lived experience engenders TRUST in the healing processes of both You and Me. I will not have experienced what you have experienced. But I can take solace from the fact that I made it through my own challenges, and so you’ll will too.

There are many things a coach needs to bring to the career coaching process. I believe our ‘Healed’ wounds are THE most valuable.
Is your coach experienced in CV writing, or is she experienced in traversing life and in holding space for you to do so, too?
