These figures do not apply only to senior leadership. These figures apply to people with ”normal jobs who are equally feeling over-responsible. This is ridiculous – ALL of the concerns and WITHOUT the status, the potency or the high wages…And this has become The Norm.
I’m intrigued to see that the article by HR review focuses on the various techniques and tools useful for individuals to bring themselves back from The Edge. HOWEVER, what I’m not seeing is any insight into the bigger picture of Toxic Work Cultures. There is no talk of the organisation’s responsibility for implementing psychological safety and manageable workloads.

These are tricky times. Things WILL continue to get trickier over the coming years. I’m all for humans taking responsibility for their own well-fare. However, employers DO have a responsibility to their staff as well as for them too. Effective work isn’t just about profit. And, The most Effective organisations know that both their output and profit go up when their staff are happy, well and empowered.
Intelligent organisations know that employment is not just about the salaries: it is a Daniel pink says, “purpose, mastery and autonomy”. This is what leads to staff engagement, and this leads to organisational stability.
This type of engagement leads to successful organisations that can ride out the waves of the next few years. This is a two-way thing – the employees need to give. The employers also need to give. Business is a Co-creative process. It’s time businesses quit scapegoating employees and blaming their ‘mental health problems on the individual.
