Considering a return to work? Take your time!

Slowly but surely, from here on in, the days will get longer and the light will return. Even though we cannot see it yet, small seedlings, snug beneath the soil, begin to send tentative tendrils downwards to seek the nourishment they need to flourish.

We humans are no different. Whilst the days are dark, our transitions may be invisible to the outside world. This is the time of year when we play with new ideas and the potentiality of change, but most of this is flowing beneath the surface.
So let this invaluable process take its own course for the time being. We need the safety of trying on new ideas and identities in secret for a while before we are fully ready to choose they way that suits us best.
Yes finances will always pressure a return to work. Yes, a desire to reclaim our professional selves, that may feel as if it has been jettisoned along the way, may pull us work-wise. Certainly a desire for adult ways of being can pull us back into the office. But, it is important to make a return to work both realistic authentic.
Only when we have given ourselves the time to choose will we be ready to show the world what we wish to persue.
My advice? Allow yourself to take your time. To take YOUR time. This way you will be able to make true and informed choices. In this way they will benefit the whole family. In this way they will will last.
