Just pick a place, any place!

Ever had one of those days when you don’t know where to begin Sometimes an Urgent/Important Grid will work. On some days it feels like all the items on your to-do list fall into the B category of ‘immediate or crisis’ priority and then where do you start?

Whatever your professional role, the list of tasks can feel overwhelming…. Unless my time is directly booked out as client-time, be it on a coach, supervisor or organisational facilitator, then my other work hours are full to the brim with all the other business tasks…. So do I begin with my monthly turnover figures or by writing up yesterday’s client notes? Do I write my daily blog, or call that potential coachee? Do I insert that bit of code into the website or paint the front door so that clients can access the premises in order to work? And all squished into the limited hours before I put on one of my other hats!

So I have developed a strategy. Wanna hear it? It’s called the ‘Just do it’ strategy. When I made my living as an artist, this strategy was just as relevant…. For a blank canvas can be just as intimidating as an over-full to-do list.

Pick a place, any place, and begin. Sooner than you imagine you will have made huge progress and there is nothing like seeing you progress to help motivate you to do the next thing.
