Professional Purpose

What is your professional purpose? What’s the point of your career? I mean that literally – What is the purpose behind the work you engage with day after day, other than the earning of an income. A lot of people I work with a capable of turning their hand to most things. When we are capable of doling almost anything then it becomes difficult to decide what that ‘thing’ might be.

Instead of turning our ‘hand’ to things, perhaps it’s time instead to turn your ‘heart’ to the career-conundrum. When we ask ourselves what we enjoy doing and what gives us joy? What makes us laugh and cry. What we care about and what causes us pain, maybe we increase the chance of finding work we genuinely care about. When we genuinely care for something then we do it easily and when we do it easily we do it often and well. Perhaps this the way to find a purposeful professional pathway which can have the potential to be developmental and stimulating for a lifetime…..

Perhaps this is the ethical and sustainable way business needs to be progressed too. A professional purpose that is located right in the heart of each individual will build an authentic business system.

Honour your heart. However weird and wonderful your passion, follow it nevertheless and see what brilliance might occur. Do it your way…………
