The Benefits of Repetition
:Today I attended a course on how to write a business plan. It’s is not the first time I have attended a course on how to write a business plan. I know it was a box ticking exercise in order to secure organisation’s funding, so I went along, just to play the game….
I was intrigued. I expected to maybe meet some nice people, feel a little superior because I had done this several times over for differing reasons, and exit asap.
What actually occurred was something very different. The course was fast paced as there was a lot to fit in to that two hours. And guess what? I learnt new things……
In fact I was very glad I had gone along with some knowledge because, had that been the first time I had encountered a cash flow forecast, at that breakneck speed, I might have panicked and quit!
So instead I entered the session with a good knowledge of my sector, a solid foundation of a business plan. With these two things in place I was open and ready to add new information to my existing knowledge…..
So just because I had done something similar before, it did not automatically mean I already knew it all……. The re-visit was valuable.
Who knew that repetition could help my development? What is it they say “practise makes perfect…..”? Who knew!
