The Secret to Surviving Mid Week Blues

We are cyclical beings we humans. We have biorhythms & social commitment rhythms, sleep rhythms and Luna ones too.
The mid week blues, our social rhythms, can make Wednesday a challenge. Whether we entered our week fresh or frazzled from our weekend endeavours, by mid week, the excitement has worn off. The project might not be moving as fast as we wish, and the next weekend seems a long way off!
So what to do when the alarm goes off on a cold Wednesday morning and you are not looking forward to the day? I have some strategies if you’re ready to hear them?
Firstly: stop yourself from diving into the pit mentally. You and only you have control of your thinking and it is your thinking that dictates how your day will proceed. What is the first negative thought that enters your head? Hear it, chuck it out and replace it with something positive.
Take exercise …! Yep! I did just say that …. Even, especially on a morning where you feel rubbishy. Endorphins are the best feel-good drug there is so tap into it! It really doesn’t have to be The Gym. It could be to cycle instead of drive. It could be park a distance from work and walk….
And do yourself a favour. Do everything on your TO-DO list. The more you drop, the more your self esteem will drop too. Spend the day slowly but surely, methodically, ticking off your tasks and your mood will rise!
Lastly, be grateful…. I know, awful to read isn’t it, but if you can track your day by things the went well, and things that were offered, and gains that were made, however small, your world will look SO much brighter.
