But Will I Enjoy It?

 As we get older it becomes clear we need to ask ourselves ‘but will I enjoy it?’ regarding each new professional opportunity….

If the answer is ‘no’ then we begin to recognise that we will respond one of two way…. either doing the ‘task’ (we have set ourselves!), sullenly and resentfully. Or, we respond to this conundrum by not doing it at all, with the internal conflict that we ‘should’.

I  spent a lot of time in my early career doing what I thought I ‘should’ do. This was rarely the same as what I actually wanted to do.  When we do what we want to do, we tend to do it well!
