Career Coach: Questions to Ask

Career Coach: Questions to Ask:

Do You Go for your PASSION?

Or, Do You Go for the solidity of the nine-to-five and the SECURITY of the paycheque?

I’m often asked this at the beginning of our work together. Whilst it is an important question it’s rarely as black and white as this.
However, by the end of our work together, the answer has ALWAYS become clear.
There are many discussions shared on online platforms about which route a career coach should advise their clients to take …
And that’s my real point here — ITS NOT UP TO ME as the coach to advise YOU at all!
.
This decision must always be made by YOU
And, once we have worked through the career coaching process, You will know which route is for you.

Career Coach Questions to Ask

This process we will use is an information-gathering system. We will explore what has and has not worked for you in the past. Investigating your past Working environments and behaviours, professional identities, skills and capabilities, we will use this information to choose your future. Exploring your purpose and beliefs, we will be able to see where you will sit within the system. Then, pinning down your five or ten-year plan, we get to see what steps you need to take to make your vison real. We will identify who’s on your team and what’s getting in your way … This way we ensure your future success.
.
And so you can see that it’s not as simple as ‘One or the Other’.
.
What we will be doing is scanning your entire system so that the answer to “Passion or Security” becomes completely obvious. And often they are not that far apart … You CAN have both.

And then you will know exactly where you’re going professionally and, most importantly, you will know why!

So, I repeat, I’ll NOT be telling you any answers regarding whether to follow your passion or go for the paycheck.
You will be making that decision dependent on what you need in order to have the most fulfilling professional life.

Apologies in advance, but this is YOUR work
