Career Coaching LinkedIn — I am one of plenty of career coaches on that platform BUT how do you know when you have found YOUR career coach? After all those “chemistry sessions”, how do you know which one will work for you?
I’ve been doing some experimenting in search of another kind of practitioner — Here’s what I did to find my ideal psychotherapist:
Firstly, I followed someone else’s recommendation to find we weren’t a good fit.
Then I followed the recommendation of my own clinical supervisor, and that, quite frankly, was a disaster – I had to call the relationship to a close. I listened to the Words “keeping You Safe’, ignoring the body loudly yelling otherwise.
Then I grabbed the first person who was right in my face, and she has luckily proven to be excellent.

So, now I have written a list of ‘ideal traits’ for my next practitioner
And I am actually interviewing them. I am no longer coming from a place of desperation and needing to be rescued. Now I am showing up sovereign, supported, bringing clarity …
And, within all of this list making, it is that MY BODY IS MAKING THE DECISIONS . . .
I have come away from meeting some practitioners cold to the extent of a trauma response. – That was “NO”, then!
I’ve come away from others with warmth, questions and curiosity
And the one I think I might choose going forward is absolutely au fey with the prolific use of the work “fuck”, is quietly radically rebellious, refusing to conform to the societal norms. What I noticed is that my body wants what she has worked to manifest in her own life.

That is a FULL BODY “YES” .

— AND every time I have overruled that wisdom, be it in a romantic, a professional or a therapeutic relationship, I have landed right on my arse.
I’m listening to my own wisdom because that will take me where I really want to be. I’m listening to myself very deeply and honouring what I hear.
And that’s how you’ll find the professional pathway that is truly yours – by listening to and honouring YOUR body’s wisdom.
