Career Coaching: SMEs

Career Coaching: SMEs. The Pandemic has been disastrous for Businesses in terms of SMEs. Whilst a multitude of new enterprises were borne out of furlough, the number of self-employed folks has dropped so there is a 600,000 deficit – And SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND people is a LOT.

“During more than half a dozen editions of prime minister’s questions since November, Johnson has made the misleading claim that more people are in employment in the UK than before the pandemic began.Yet, although the numbers of workers on payrolls has risen, the number of self-employed people has dropped significantly so that the total number of people in work is down by 600,000.”

Small to medium enterprises are the absolute bedrock of our business landscape in the UK. These are the diverse enterprises that absorb the impact when larger organisations fall. And fall they will over the next decade – I believe that we are in deep trouble with Brexit and with the conflicts over fuel taking place across the world.
This is why we need SMEs — it is the diversity that counts. It is this diversity that means that when one sector is in trouble, there is another that is simultaneously flourishing. This is what holds the business landscape in balance. it is the SMEs who can be responsive and meet the ever-changing needs of a country that is deep in transition within a conflicted world.

Career Coaching: SMEs

We really need our SMEs right now. If you are a small to medium business or enterprise and you can see the challenges that are coming, and I know you will be keeping our eyes wide open, then come and debrief them with me. It is time to get really strategic so that we as founders are well resourced as individuals and our enterprises are well supported.
If you are burned out, if you are fearful of disaster and your sector or niche of choice – sometimes it really only takes a set of really small but accurate tweaks that can make the difference between sinking or staying well about the waterline, even in a weak economic climate.
