Career Coaching Tools
Fortunately, there are a plethora of career coaching tools at your disposal. There’s everything from a personal SWAT analysis to future-self meditations. However, how will you know which of them will best serve you? How will you know you are on track?
There’s only so much exploration that is useful. Especially if you are a good completer finisher, it’s possible to procrastinate in personal development for such a long time!
This is where the experience and expertise of a skilled career coach can truly shine.
Within a coaching relationship that is established and responsive, informed decisions about the intention of the work can be set. Knowing the client in front of me means I can have a clear idea of where we are headed and thus decide how to get there.

Having said that, my writing makes it sound like these decisions are conscious. In reality, held within the crucible of the relationship, these choices are made together, in the moment, as we move through the work.
There’s a lot that’s intuitive and instinctive that informs our choices about where we go and how. This involves several factors: including a knowledge of the coaching possibilities. An understanding of how each client works. And plenty of experience with the success that comes from working with clients for years.
So, feel free to explore the myriad coaching interventions available. You can access books, programs, and the internet… mostly for free.
However, please do not confuse that with the depth of understanding that comes from providing bespoke coaching for decades.
