Return To Work Joy
Return To Work Joy: I have a friend and colleague who is currently two days back into her return to work following her maternity leave. I’m guessing that she may not yet agree with the fact that a return to work is a joy…? But she will!
We do get SO much from work. When we are doing the right work, in the right cultural environment, with people we like, in service of a purpose we believe in, work is literally a joy.
Having done a lot of jobs that did not suit me, and indeed I surely didn’t suit them! I really know what I need in order to flourish professionally. Here are some of the measures.
Return To Work Joy
When we are engaged with work that is ‘rightful’ for us, we might arrive home tired, but we are not depleted night after night because we will have been nourished during the day. Working in a rightful professional environment provides us with belonging. Working with rightful behaviours provides us with productivity. Rightful use of our skills provides us with a sense of achievement. Fluidity between our identities can bring us nourishment. We are not just one thing. We are mothers and brothers and daughters and mates and all of these freed your professional identity likewise and there needs to be symbiosis. If your Professional identity ‘takes’ from all your other facets, then it is unsustainable. Take it from one who REALLY knows that. Working with rightful values and beliefs provide us with a sense of integrity.
When our endeavours are in service of a rightful purpose we can work through any of the challenges we encounter because we know what drives us.
Work brings us a whole heap of things over and above money. Perhaps it is time to reap your personal return to work harvest? I hope your return to work proves to have been a joy too.
