Career Coaching Exercises
Any good coach will have a plethora of career coaching exercises up their sleeve.
— Called ‘Coaching Interventions’ in this industry sector, they are the way we bring about the shifts beneath that are needed for change.
“Society doesn’t often encourage us to take stock or to take ownership of our whole selves”
It’s important to use the right coaching interventions for each chient. And, that design can only come about from a strong relationship and deep listening on behalf of the coach
One intervention I have been using for years goes like this:
.
Make a list of 40 of your skills, 40 of your personal attributes and 40 of the chunks of knowledge you have.
Career Coaching Exercises
Yep! That’s 120 words. This takes time and commitment. It might take consultation with people who know you both professionally and personally. It definitely takes courage because you may well be pushing on through some limiting beliefs that it’s risky or arrogant to do this work.
.
And then I read these lists back to my clients. Often my clients cry or are otherwise moved – they had no idea of the breadth and depth of themselves. To enable these humans to see themselves for who they truly are, from the outside, is one of the very great privileges of my role.
And then, in taking ownership of their brilliance, clients can make much bolder choices about their next professional steps
Society doesn’t often encourage us to take stock or to take ownership of our whole selves.
I can… So come and work with me.
