Career Coaching Jobs
There are many more career coaching jobs within institutions, companies, and organisations. The benefits of coaching on employee attraction and retention are becoming increasingly clear.
.
Brexit has impacted the workforce. Britain has a labour shortage. Labour shortages lead to higher labour costs. Keeping hold of the labour you have grows in importance to sustain business profitability. It costs less to hire a career coach than to re-hire, re-train and upskill a plethora of new employees. Hence an increase in career coaches in institutions.

AND … some of these career coaches are merely a box-ticking exercise. These in-house coaches have an agenda — To keep you in-house. Which, in the long run might not be what you are seeking to achieve. You might get ‘free-coaching’ on the business budget, BUT, are YOU really at the heart of The Work? But, If the business wants to keep you at all costs, then where does YOUR agenda figure?
.
And, Let’s be clear that “at all costs” WILL be to YOU, not to the business – if you subscribe to their agenda (& yes, it’s easy to be lured by a pay rise or jump in seniority). How impactful can you be if you don’t genuinely care about what the organisation offers? And if you are still mired in systems and processes that do not work. Or if you still have no actual say in what changes?
.
A recent client of mine said words to the effect of:
“The more senior I became, the more frustrating the work was. When I was on the bottom rungs, I didn’t expect to be able to effect change. However, the higher I went and the more I paid, the guiltier and more frustrated I felt that I couldn’t ‘right’ the things that didn’t work.”
It took them 25 years to step out. They have taken a lot of skills with them. They also feel very frustrated that they didn’t leave earlier – “the guilded cage” held them for a long time.
Now they are forging their own way.
Are you keeping hold of YOUR agenda? Or are you blind to in-house agendas and surrendering your choice and your potency
