Coach and Horses

A coach and horses seems to be a good metaphor for the coaching process. Once both coach and horses have found the right direction then their progress is practically unstoppable. When the expertise of the coach driver is aligned with the wisdom of the horses themselves, then they can drive right on through just about anything.

“I never cease to be amazed at the power of the coaching process to draw out the skills or talent that was previously hidden within an individual, and which invariably finds a way to solve a problem previously thought unsolvable.” John Russell

The career coaching process must be similarly aligned in order to be effective. The client’s innate wisdom must be drawn out by the practitioner in order that their professional development can line up and good things can follow. This way ‘the impossible’ can be achieved. It is my job as a coach to join all the dots and reflect back what was previously impossible in the clients professional world. I get to tease out the strands and strengths. I get to reframe the information I have gained. I get to reflect it right back to the individual sitting before me. Then we can collaborate to design the next professional steps in this new light.

My job is to work with what is already there, draw it out and shine new light on it. Together as coach and client we can then identify the potential. Once all this is all lining up, the next chunk of the professional journey can really begin.

Are you ready to see your potential from a different perspective? Are you really ready to become unstoppable!
