How to Believe in Yourself

Put simply, self-belief, be it in your personal or your professional life, comes with practise.
Somehow it is easier to give way to self-doubt and when we do, our worlds get smaller and more restricted as we allow ourselves to be frightened by the ‘what ifs’.
The solution to these ‘what if’s’ that corrode our confidence is the commitment of ‘I will try’. It is the setting of a series of small challenges that stretch you and then it is doing them. It is the taking of small actions that scare you. It is the asking for things that we are not sure if we ‘deserve’ or will get, from both people and the universe, that yields such riches.
If you don’t apply for that promotion then nobody knows you want it. If you don’t ask for that funding nobody knows the need is there. If you don’t take the risk of doing something differently then you will keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome……
There are no guarantees with these risks, but If each of us do not stretch to find our edges, regularly, then we become small and stale. Self-belief is the product of action taken. It is the spark of courage that we need in order to risk it in the first place.
