How to Face a Challenge:

Firstly, prepare. I cannot emphasise this aspect more. If you are an anxious-avoidant personality then MAKE yourself face the oncoming challenge. Be it an interview, a exam counting towards your CPD or putting a business start-up proposal to the bank, prepare!

In this digital age it is easy to discover the answers that you will need. So start early, remain focused on your aim (if you need to se an alarm before which you cannot attend to you Facebook page then do so!), and gather the data on offer.

You can discover more about the core values & mission statement of the interviewing organisation with ease. You can contact experts in the field of you research and grill then. All people, even authority figures, like to talk about themselves and their passions as much as us mere mortals do! And if you need to know the loan criteria for your new enterprise then ask, ask and ask…..
And what I am drawing your attention to is the fact that we do not know what we do not know until me make a beginning, so it is best to make a beginning as soon as is possible.  Paradoxically it is important to bear in mind that you cannot prepare for every eventuality. This is the second part of a success strategy.

When you are asked the interview question you did not see coming, what will you do? When your supervisor points out that your research has a huge blind spot in it, or you bank manager points out a glaring risk in your business plan, what will be your answer?

This is where you will need to prepare for the unexpected. When something is extremely important to us humans, The Unexpected can easily blow us off course. Because it is important, panic sets in swiftly. So what you will also need to do to ensure a successful outcome is practise your panic-strategy.

You panic strategy will involve three components: firstly, identifying what will keep you calm because nothing is ever sorted in panic. Secondly you will need to learn to pause and listen to yourself. If you have done your research and you are passionate about your cause, you may well, if you stop and breathe, realise you do deep down, know the answer. Thirdly, if you genuinely and authentically cannot access the information within yourself in that moment, then what will you say to elegantly buy you some time?

It might be worth preparing to ensure a successful outcome.
