Kindness in Business
It’s easy to view life and work as a competition. Our survival instinct makes us naturally competitive. Our egos would have us chasing visible status and success. Thirdly there are some large corporations who wish to make money from our natural vulnerabilities and in order to do so, would have us feeling ‘less than’ to prompt us to buy their products.
In combination, the ripple effects can travel far and wide. Before we know it we are putting others down in order to feel better about ourselves, we are devaluing others skills and talents in order to big ourselves up, or we are boasting about what we have achieved in order to silence another entrepreneur’s joy.
Is this how we want to be? Recently with a run of life changing events on the domestic front, one of the fantastic things I have been able to take from this is the huge amount of kindness and generosity that has come flooding our way. People have offered and acted, loved and laughed with me. They have listened and supported and generally reminded me how beautiful it is to belong.
So in my opinion it’s really worth attending to this kind of collaboration in business. We all bring unique skills. Even if we are in the same sector, or business or role, we are entirely unique had thus there is no competition…. Nobody can do what you do in your way.
In my not so humble opinion, if we do business with heart, If we choose to be kind and to collaborate, we shall all be enriched by the experience and less energy will be wasted in trying to be one-up on anyone else. This way we all florish …..
