Leadership: Heart-filled Work

Leadership Coaching: Heart-filled work. I was re-reminded of the importance of ‘heart-filled work in leadership and business by a client today. In he strode, a Glaswegian, a five and a half foot tall. A multi-disciplinary thinker, with barrels of energy. Not only did he bring a personality and a half, but also a heart that has been doing the work. Here was an individual who knows he is connected to all of it. Who is as willing to roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty and sweep the floor as he is to be an ear for the CEO of a multi-national company. And do you know what I realised? That it was gonna be difficult for him to get hired.

This ball of willingness, ego-free service, and intuitive working, is way too much for the small boxes within which business likes to hold people. Businesses are WAY more interested in The Role as opposed to The Person. Without words, people will sense his capability, heart, and soul. They will instinctively fear him as a threat.

What we need to be doing is including this kind of brilliance. No, not a saint, but a human who has put in the time and effort to develop his emotional intelligence. It will take a very wise business to recognise and embrace the kind of individual who brings so much. It will be a very lucky business or industry sector that does hire this individual as Business SO needs to be working from love and not fear. Surely it is time!
