New Job: Bristol
New Job: Bristol
We are encouraged to consider ourselves to be ‘internationally available’ for our career progression, AND it’s still very common to want to work within spitting distance of all the other things that are important to our lives:
Our families, our friends, and the communities we belong to — ALL influence where we want to locate our professional advancement
And, despite remote working, communication via Zoom et al. — still, I find many clients wish to stay relatively local
.
All of the above means of communication work. And there is nothing quite like being in the same physical space with colleagues without a ginormous commute.
In fact, I have seen this even more since COVID-19. People in the city are really wedded to the place, and there are some very good reasons for that.
.
This city is absolutely BOOMING.
“Bristol’s economy is expected to grow by 8.9 per cent over the next five years, significantly outpacing the rest of the UK.”
(According to ‘The Business Desk’ earlier this year.)
Bristol is a privileged city with significant levels of regeneration. Notable growth in the information and communications sector, closely followed by science and tech, means the opportunities for work in this city are and will continue to expand.
New Job: Bristol
It’s also a radical city. There are people here who are willing to challenge the status quo and use their privilege well.
.
So, if you work in Bristol and you want to keep doing so, this city has the remit to provide you with opportunities for advancement.
Perhaps there is no need to go any further afield at all — and that’s not something says of many a place in the UK.
.
The UK’s socioeconomics have been challenged recently. Perhaps Bristol is a good place to seek that new job after all.
