Remember to Step Out.
When things are stressful and work deadlines loom, it is really easy to be so very focused on the project and only the project. When immersed in the intricacies of the tiny details, the risk is that bigger picture ceases to exist.
With our heads down, driving the project forwards, we can neglect to attend to the context, or to the people power.
Focusing in on the details means we can be blind to an impending financial risk.
Project and deadline success can over-ride its human-resources.
And without humans-who-are-resourced, without team members who have taken a step back to see the bigger picture, or on a more pragmatic level, or project managers who have eaten some lunch…. Where would we be?
Remember to step out of your project every now and again. Only then will you be able to see what you are missing.
