Why Do It Alone?

It doesn’t matter if it’s asking for help from my beloved to take the small boy to school because I have flu. Or if it’s asking for assistance in the editing of some of my research. Why would we not draw on the strengths of those who are more skilled than we are?
I have tried a life where i endeavoured to be entirely self-reliant. I proved it was possible. However, not only was it lonely but it also lacked the richness of sharing and belonging and the exchanging of ideas and even mistakes. These transactions are really nourishing for us as people and bring the wealth of variety that helps us live, love and learn.
It is a similar story with your career development. Once again, I have every faith the you can be entirely self reliant and work out your next steps on your own. What it might prove to be however is a little lonely and a little lacking in the joy of sharing the journey.
Perhaps it’s time to share your potential with someone who really takes joy in enabling that light-bulb moment on behalf of others.
