I am interested to see that in 2026 “Career Coach Near Me” is still a strong Google search. Surely with the internet, your career coach can be absolutely anywhere?
And yet, I still believe there is something in ‘proximity’. Even if you’re working on Zoom, knowing your coach is just around the corner holds some comfort? Connection? Some kind of resonance for people.
Yes, I do coach people all over the world. And yet, a good proportion are here in Bristol.
Partly that’s because they were ALL in person in 2014 when I began. And, the power of recommendation is still strong.
But partially, there’s something powerful about being on the same land, in the same city, familiar with the season, the temperature, the economic and business culture.
I suspect this means we are talking a similar language, we have shared reference points, and a shared understanding of how this translates in this metropolis … and that can make the work flow more easily as our shared understanding is implicit. Less translation is needed.

At this point I need to say that I also LOVE the translation. To know that I am really understanding someone who is 8000 miles away, and to feel in my body their somatic response to our work, blows my mind, quite frankly, Every time!
And, to build a relationship with someone just around the corner or, even sitting in the coaching chair opposite me, is a real privilege. It’s rich, it’s nourishing, it flows, it’s a thing of real beauty as we do this coaching dance with elegance and grace.
