Career Coach
Engaging with an authentic career coach will take you through a rigorous and thorough process. As coach and client, we need to explore aspects your past in order to tease out the threads that you wish to replicate for your career future.
A good career coach will examine the professional environments you have previously experienced. We can work out which did, and indeed which did not, support you best in your professional development. We will work on identifying the behaviours that have kept you well and happy, fulfilled and motivated. You can then jettison those behaviours of the past that might have sabotaged your progress or achievements.
An effective career coach will help you to name and claim all the skills, capabilities and personal attributes that you have embodied as you have journeyed on your career path thus far. You might also identify capabilities you would like to strengthen or indeed seek new skills learn from scratch. We will decide which of the beliefs you hold about yourself and your career are still relevant. We will decide which beliefs are no longer of service to you. We shall find new beliefs, unique to you that will enhance your professional progress. We shall tease out your Core Values, against which any decision you face in the future can be measured. This information will be of real benefit to you life-long.
An excellent career coach will support you throughout this process which will enable you to see what the purpose of your work is for you. Whilst it may be obvious that we all work for money (we need to keep the roof over our heads and the wolf from the door.), money alone is never enough to keep someone in any job for the rest of their lives. Authentic career coaching requires that we explore the need of all humans to make a wider contribution to the world. What wider purpose is served through making the product or providing the service you do. What purpose do you in your own unique way serve in the world through the work that you do? This way your past serves as potent fertiliser for your professional future.
A career coach will enable you to sift through your professional past and to decide what to take forward into your career future. Equally this will help you to decide which bits to leave behind in your past. When we have this information, we can get practical by using data to inform decisions about exactly where you wish to be in 5 years time. We will seek to know just just what resources you will need in order to achieve this vision. We will identify who you will need around you and what more you might need to learn and what might get in your way. We can work out where this will take place and how it will look when you get there. we can capitalise on all the archaeological work we have put in and form a really clear picture of your next steps because we will know why you want to do what you do. You will be making decisions driven by your passion and aided by practicality. This creates an unstoppable formula.
This is the journey with an authentic career coach. This is how coach and client build a really strong platform on which you can build your career future.
