Career Coaching Framework

What’s the purpose of a Career Coaching Framework? Why use a framework at all when we could show up week after week and explore the immediate work?

I have come to believe that at the beginning of a coaching relationship a framework is essential.

Why? Because it serves multiple purposes:
1) it shows impatient people (& I am one, as are most of my clients) that they are making progress — we are not lost in the morass of ‘what not working at work’. We are information gathering with purpose and focus.
2) The right framework serves as a container into which career experiences can be thrown – whence they can be harnessed and used for professional decisions going forward — let’s not continue to make the same mistakes and expect different outcomes.

3) this framework is also used to capture all the brilliance that you hold — once this is writing in black and white there is no more arguing with ‘what it is you bring’. And THAT makes for a powerful negotiating position when it comes to seniority and salary.
Once we have worked our way through this framework – we then ping into the next – which in turn gives you Your Future Vision.

Both of these frameorks provide structure, accountability, efficacy – that’s how you’ll get the meaningful role you seek.

Once we have BOTH those in place we can, if you wish, continue to meet regularly, ad hoc
But, I know from experience – this is only effective when the foundations are in.
