Career Coaching Models: A client returned for a mentoring session back in the day. She had herself gone and trained as a coach on the back of our with together. — She sat down in front of me and said:

“I can see how in our sessions you moved from NLP, to this coaching model and that one too …”
I was quite taken aback – having even then coached for a decade I had no conscious awareness of employing ANY of these interventions in our coaching sessions.
What I was doing was what my old tutor had named “The Dance in the Moment”, ie working with the information that was live in the session itself.

However, I am quite prepared to believe that the coaching interventions were operational too — that, I had internalised them during my training and my early practise and that I unconsciously draw on them as needed.
Weird to have that ‘unconscious competence’ mirrored back to me. — Where are YOU more competent than you know?

AND, I wonder what opportunities you have missed becasue you have refused to take ownership of ALL that you bring.

We can carry strong beliefs “pride before a fall” and “don’t count your chickens until they have hatched” can lurk deep in our subconcious, operational, disempowering us from the inside without us even knowing ….
.
