Career Coaching Tools

Here’s a link to a plethora of career coaching tools: If you feel you have been floating around in the seas of career-discontent for a while, then these tricks of the trade are an important way of enabling you to navigate your way towards land. As in life however, no intervention alone will ‘fix’ your career quandary. What each coaching tool can do, is to enable you to redraw, bit by bit, the picture of the professional identity you seek.

The common thread that joins a lot of the work done within career coaching is not the rewrite of a C.V, you are quite capable of doing that. The work here is not usually about interview techniques, you are well equipped to face those challenges. The work that is done within this career coaching space is primary concerned with identifying exactly what it is that you will apply all your skills to. When you have chosen your course well, you will be entirely able to navigate you own way to your destination.

Choosing your destination requires you to pause and to reflect. Pausing might not be the default-setting of most individuals. I know that if I can see no external achievements, almost immediately, I default to questioning the value of the way I am choosing to use my time. So, finding a true destination also takes patience and the trust that this will ‘make manifest’, trust that this investment of my time will pay off. Within the reflection of what has gone past, we find confluence of ‘lesson’ learned and of experiences we have integrated. Within confluence we will find the clues as to what we want to take forward, what we wish to leave behind, and, what new things we wish to add to the crucible for our professional future.

Use the career coaching tools as a structured way to take reflective-time. Reflective time is the best way I know of witnessing, and of honouring, the emergence of your new professional identity.
