Change? Get Used To It!

I like this thought;
“Our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.” S Peck.
This is so true. Why would we ever change anything if it were perfect as it was……? It is only discomfort that shifts most humans & this applies to our professional development too. Sure we might be motivated by the prospect of a higher salary, but we will move even faster if our current role changes in ways that do not suit us!
The reality is that the world is ever changing, whilst sometimes this is for good, sometimes there are negative consequences for our industry sector or our job. When we become discomforted it is valuable to engage in a review. In order to avoid jumping form the fringe pan into the fire, we need to know what it is that has changed and thus what we are running from. We need to know what it is we seek next, and importantly we will benefit from knowing what it is we take from our old role that will nourish our new one.
This way we make informed decisions instead of reactive and potentially destructive ones… Change is unstoppable, it’s how we handle it that counts.
