The Benefits of Courage
Interestingly life has presented me with a whole heap of opportunities to challenge old perceptions of myself and reclaim them in new ways. This is doing me SO much good.
Returning to a city I lived in over 20 years ago, inhabiting the ‘Me’ that I have become, is heartening. I probably didn’t let myself recognise quite how frightened I was whilst I lived in this metropolis, but I do now. I can feel the gap that existed between my perceptions of myself and this world back then, compared with how I feel now in this context now, and it is way different!
And it’s great. I feel it’s a real reward and a qualitative testimony to all the hard work I have put in to build my world and my experience of it in a positive way.
My husbands response to my fears was a kindly ‘you don’t have to go’. Yet I knew that it was time to lay some old ghosts to rest. I knew that with this small stretch, I could create the chance to reclaim and rename a little bit more of me and make it my own. I have also been extremely blessed to have support on all sorts of levels from all sorts of gorgeous people along the way. You know who you are & thank you.
It takes courage to do move right out of my comfort zone and face the past head-on. And it is SO very worth it.
What could you set down from your past so that you can be free to move on?
