Can we avoid the exploitation of humans and perhaps, more importantly, our planet?
Whilst a mass-produced object costs virtually nothing financially, the cost to people and places is becoming undeniably high!
What about the real value? What about the arts and crafts movement? What about making things that last instead of getting trashed?
What about paying decent wages and building authentic relationships with colleagues and all working together towards a shared purpose? What about re-balancing male and female energies in business? 2000 years of imbalance don’t seem to be working for any of us.
How do we reassemble this stuff so that it works?
What if we did get hold of a purpose greater than ourselves, our wage, and our egos?
How do we make a place for the well crafted and beautiful thing or service, provided by people who care, that is not out of reach for a person
Can we infiltrate and turn this on its head?
Can the idiom of “buy cheap, buy twice” be made so overt that it becomes obvious that in order to be values-led and in order to be sustainable we have to start doing exactly the opposite…?
Personally, I am rather frightened of where our current trading patterns are swiftly taking us. If you too want to do it differently and do it well then let us co-create a new way.
