Career Coaching: What IS your “Purpose”. There’s a LOT of talk about identifying “Your Life Purpose” right now. There is also a LOT of misinformation about what this means so I thought it might help to show up and simplify things. Why? Because I have been doing this work with hundreds of clients for over a decade now.

When people talk about Life Purpose I see it in a particular way.
The thing we are looking for is The Sweet Spot between YOUR DREAM and what the world needs. THAT!

Often when we take the time to identify our dream (life/career/ relationship) as opposed to dismissing it as ‘unrealistic’ then we find that this is EXACTLY what the world needs too…..This is YOUR Sweet-Spot. And, what happens when you know your Purpose? What happens is every single decision you make is eased – you now have an internal compass that shows you where to go next.

For example, my dream was to find a career that not only made me a decent income but also made me deeply happy too… t turns out that my Purpose had been to enable others to honour and hear THEIR Purpose. I don’t mean this was an easy win. It took me a LOT of years of feeling like a failure and of having a disastrous career, and by a process of elimination I refined what I did want. This work gives us symbiotic joy: I adore it when each client leaves this coaching space with a really aligned and congruent career ambition. They are happy and, it pays me too.

It also turns out that we don’t have only one purpose: At the beginning of the pandemic, my second, MUCH bigger life purpose landed…. This one is huge … I literally remember sitting here when my book title landed and saying out loud “OH, Shit!” because I recognise the feeling of a real purpose landing and suddenly I was responsible for The Thought Leadership and Cultural Change of restoring balance by bringing The Divine Feminine to the World…. WTF?

How do we find our purpose…. It’s about hearing ourselves, it’s about creating the space where we can really hear and honour our deepest desires. It’s about honouring those desires that we buried deep inside a long, LONG time ago. It is about being safe enough to get these desires out and taking a look at them in the cold light of day and seeing that whatever anyone told us about them in the past, they really are not only valuable but VIABLE too…
