It Is Never Too Late
It Is Never Too Late: It really is never to late to be who you might have been..
Since I began working aged 16, as a (very bad!), waitress in a pub in deepest Somerset, I have changed career-context around fifteen times. I am familiar with reinvention. Having moved house 11 times by the age of 22, I am familiar with reorientation. Having changed relationships more times than I care to mention, I am familiar with redefinition.
Contrary to my belief that this made me ‘flighty’ or uncommitted, these experiences and experiments have richly fed the individual that I have become. The profession, and indeed the professional, that has grown out of the confluence of these life experiences, is fed richly with knowledge information and skills.
In my personal and my professional opinion it is ALWAYS worth risking doing the thing you most desire. No experienced is ever wasted. What I have gained now it the knowledge that this role can, and does, hold all the threads of all the ‘Me’s” that went before. I also know that as I grow this role, it can encompass all the ‘Me’s’ that are waiting for me in the future….. This is how I know I have found the right professional place to be. This professional identity holds all my past and also my possibility. It holds the potential to be all that I might have been. It is never too late…….
