Leadership Coaching Bristol: According to a New survey conducted by CV-Library, almost half the workforce in Bristol hates their jobs!!! Really??? I think this has some implications for leadership here in this town...We paint ourselves smugly as the ‘best place to live in Britain’, and, yet half of us dislike our work…? the place we a spend third of our lives… (when one third is spent asleep?) this is madness!
Some of the responsibility does lie with the applicant but most of that responsibility lies with the top-down leadership we purport. If you want top-down Leadership consequentially you’ll get the bottom-up blame. If you want to divulge yourself of that responsibility then you had better empower others to help you
So, have you tried asking your team, or employees or clients what’s up??? You’d be amazed at how many leaders simply hire management consultants to FXXk with the structure or to merely guess at the answers, without even asking those who know …
The term ‘Human Resources’ has been SO misused in the past decades, but, if we just ground ourselves, we can see that our humans ARE our greatest resources. Armed with goodwill people do good work and they are THE source of information that you need for your enterprise to succeed!
Here’s a simple linguistic trick: Try asking ‘WHAT’ instead of ‘WHY?”.
‘Why… is XYorZ not working? or not been done? or not to your liking?” can feel very accusatory when you are on the receiving end.”What” on the other hand brings a totally different energy: “what is stopping XYorZ from working?” is a practical question that inevitably elicits a practical answer. When you have a practical problem to solve then you can collaborate to generate a practical solution… That way nobody is wrong.
Talk to your people on the Ground. They have your answers.
Ask them: I dare you!
