Career Coach or Therapist
Career coach or therapist? Now there’s a good question.
Whilst one definition of coaching is “working in the present and the future …”
… I am a firm believer that it is nigh on impossible to make good decisions about your future without taking a peek at your past because this is where all YOUR information lies.
And, unlike therapy, we will not be loitering in your past. We will not enter the wounds to experience them and try to heal them.
What we WILL do is get the head torches on and zoom into your past together. We will be very clear about the target information we seek. Once we have what we need, we will get out quick-time to capitalise on what we found.
If you do not know what you appreciated about your professional past, you cannot accurately repeat it.
Career Coach or Therapist
And, If you are not courageous enough to swiftly revisit those things that felt like they harmed you in your career – you cannot guarantee you won’t replicate those too …. Sometimes, past hurts can be driving our choices. Identify those you do NOT want to experience again, and you can curate your future professional experiences.
Stepping into your past in a safe and boundaried way enables you to capture the gold and transport it to your future.
Or you can simply do the surface work, update your CV, cross your fingers, and hope for the best …?
