Career Coaching Questions: I’d LOVE it if I could generate a selection of generic career coaching questions.  I could then apply them to each client with ease. I could even trademark them and sell the information — gaining myself a passive income…

HOWEVER, good career coaching is never based on generic questioning. The questions I ask are ALWAYS bespoke to the person in front of me. These questions are based upon the last answer you’ve given, and, with humans, they never, ever give the same answer as another. Thus, each career coaching session, with each individual, cannot help but forge an entirely unique route. This route is YOUR unique route and will lead to your bespoke answers to the question of “What is next for my career.”

All of this is lucky for me, too. I have a low boredom threshold, and I revel in hearing an entirely new story every 90 minutes and being paid to listen — what’s not to like?

And I ADORE these deep dives that we do as client and coach. Exploring what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what’s the thing that drives you from deep inside.

It is a profound privilege to be allowed to witness the inside of people’s lives and work cultures. It is a sacred journey to see the inner workings of a business or industry sector. Learning what it is that keeps people taking the next step, even during the soul’s darkest night.

So generic career coaching questions will never enable us to access these deepest of places. And without risking going there, it is not possible to Co-create the solutions, pathways and possibilities they are bespoke for you.
