Career Coaching: Feel the Fear… If you’re scared of doing something, then I have a solution for you. The remedy for fear (and yes DO feel it and do it anyway), Is to set a deadline. This deadline, set publicly, will force you to show up and do the thing.
I have a fundamental restructuring and growth in my business happening right now. The only way I am navigating the fears (& there are many!) is by setting deadlines and accountability in place. If I have said I will be at a ‘branding meeting’, then, despite the feeling of being totally out of my depth, I will show up to have the conversation.
If I have booked ten people on the zoom group career Coaching program, then I will hire the person who can teach me to use zoom well, in a group capacity. If I have told someone I will be there, or that I am doing something, then I have to show up. People keep asking me “how’s the book going?” And that means, even if it’s for my ego’s sake, then I have to show up and write it, one word at a time.
Accountability and deadlines, these are the structures on which unbelievable changes hang. Keep voicing it, keep showing up and, the world will be your oyster…
Nobody said we shouldn’t feel fear, what we need to do is to employ strategies so that our true potential doesn’t get trapped in it … employ accountability and ensure you show up! I’ll see you there 🙂
