Career Coaching: Why Would I Trust You? Asked a potential client when we first met.
“My friend worked with a career coach and all she got was a pretty CV and a list of jobs that seemed to have nothing to do with her”
Well, I can happily confirm that you will get NEITHER of these from me.

I will NOT be updating your CV for you – you are more than capable of doing that for yourself – especially when you know what direction you are headed in next.

I will NOT be giving you a list of jobs to do – I remember exactly that happening to me at school with the ‘careers counsellor’ who, from her wonky metrics, decided I should be a school teacher — the main problem with they being that I never have and never will, like children, especially not en masse!

So; like I say, I am not here to tell you what to do – And that’s for good reason:

Firstly, I don’t know this information

And secondly, if I did tell you what job to do, you would most likely resist me and do exactly the opposite — you are an adult and it is for you to decide how to make your way forward professionally

What I can and will do is hold a space with and for you so that You can hear what it is that You need:

What professional environments work for you? What behaviours do not, what skills, personal attributes and knowledge you hold within your bring that you can take out into the world. What beliefs you hold that might be getting in your way. What core values you hold – your internal compass. What is essential to you in your next professional identity ie what you will no longer compromise simply for The Money.
We will sink into that deeper place together where you get to hear what it is you really want to bring to the world.
And then we will get pragmatic, pin all of it down in a five year plan – identifying you next steps, who you need, how you can influence them. What obstacles you will need to overcome and what it will look like when you have finally succeeded
So, I will in no way be telling you what it is you need to be doing — you yourself will be learning within this held space, what’s really valuable to you and what you want gift to the world, the way you want to earn your living.
