What we can do together is two-fold.
Firstly, we can create coping strategies for you to use on the ground. This work always needs to hold a space for making your everyday situation more manageable. Unfortunately, I do not have a magic wand, and I cannot change your working culture or the boss who refuses to hear when she’s making unreasonable demands.
What we can do is make some pragmatic tweaks to ensure that you know just how to protect yourself within your circumstances. This way, you become sustainable and avoid burnout. Nobody needs to be burning out, especially not for a role or organisation you may no longer even believe in.
How can Career Coaching Help?
The second layer we will be working with is Your Future. We will set off on a journey together to work out where you need to work to be most effective. At this point, we may not know if you’re staying or going.
We will slow time down a little to give you the opportunity to examine what you want to jettison and what you want to capture and take forward with you.
What is often forgotten is that with your experience — you already know your own answers if you make the time to listen.
We will explore what it is you have hated and loved about the environments you have already worked in. What you have loved and despised about the things you (& others!) have been doing and saying. We will spend some time idling and dreaming in your IDEAL work environment and behaviour — what do you REALLY want instead?
We will explore ALL the capabilities you bring – once these are documented in black and white, you can no longer argue with them. Taking ownership of these and the wide variety of identities that make up YOU, you begin to realise just how much you have to offer.
We will work with your beliefs and your values. Seeing what gets in your way as well as what drives you forward. We will then find Your ‘WHY’ — the purpose that will drive you forward when life feels like it’s trying to stop your progress.
Finally, on the back of this, we will design your five or ten-year professional map.
As I say, we still don’t know if you’re staying or if you’re going yet, but by this point in the process, it will be VERY clear to you what needs to happen next.
