How do I Find a Legitimate Career Coach?
How do I Find a Legitimate Career Coach? You are right; it can feel like a minefield. So, firstly, here are some fundamentals to look for when seeking a relationship with a career coach.
.
How long did their training last? (More than a weekend is good…!)
Which organisation did they train with?
Do they have an Accreditation Body?
Look for ILM, AC, and ICF. And are they insured? Finally, how long have they been in practice? The 10,000-hour rule can be a helpful guide.
.
However, none of these things guarantees good coaching in and of themselves.
.
And so, scarily (!!!) after that, the judgment call is up to you. — NOBODY can tell you which coach is best for you. Nobody can tell me which Client is right for me. Yes, this is A Thing!

Did you notice that I said the word “Relationship” in the first sentence? The Work is ALL done within the context of The Relationship.
And for that, you have to meet. You have to speak. You have to ask all the questions. And fundamentally, you need to listen to, hear and trust yourself.
Whoever you choose to work with, whatever models they use, whatever promises they make — essentially, you will need to feel two things in their company.
You are looking for the ‘truth’ in your body’s responses.
You are looking to feel Excited – the excitement of possibilities and connection.
.
You are ALSO looking to feel just a little bit of trepidation.
You seek to walk that edge because your experience with this coach will BOTH nourish and push you a little. — You can’t grow without the safety and encouragement. You won’t grow without a nudge from another towards the edge of your comfort zone.
This is the place where your potential lies.
